Well, it may seem like a bunch of goofballs just being wacky on the internet (and don't misunderstand me, it is) but it IS their job. They get paid to do it, pour many hours into it, have to travel for it, and for some of them, its their *full time* job and how they pay their rent.
Just because its a fun career is no reason it shouldn't be, you know, professional.
I work in comic books. Same thing. There's contracts and "don't talk about this before it comes out" and stuff.
